Job summary

EDUCATORS- ENGAGED LEARNING PROGRAM JOB POSTING

Position: Educators-Engaged Learning Program
Location: Timmins, ON

Job Summary

Are you a dynamic instructor who is interested in sharing their numeracy and literacy skills with youth in our community? The Timmins Learning Centre is seeking creative and observant educators with a desire to instruct school aged children reach their individual learning goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, and in collaboration with the Children’s Program Coordinator, the Educator for the Engaged Learning Program position is responsible for instructing children from Grades 1 to 6 to better their numeracy and literacy skills.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily documentation of session info re: students success’ and challenges
  • Communicate with the Program Coordinator, Children, and Parents re: session info
  • Assess students skills and needs on a session‑by‑session basis.
  • Work with students to help their understanding of concepts covered in the classroom.
  • Showing children how to utilize the tools they have available.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of working environment.
  • Reaffirming the connections between life and concepts being introduced in the classroom.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Have the ability to use Microsoft, Excel, and OneDrive.
  • Display excellent time management skills
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Experience working with young children, specifically, but not limited to, basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check will be required upon hire (reimbursement available)
  • Secondary students with strong numeracy and literacy skills welcome to apply
Compensation and Work Environment

This is a part time position, approximately 10 hours per week. Instruction occurs in the evenings, Monday to Thursday. The wage for this position is minimum wage.
