Job summary

North Bend School District 13 is seeking an Educational Assistant for Check In / Check Out. The 10-month position covers 6.5 hours per day with a pay rate of $18.37 to $21.99 per hour.

Under teacher supervision, you will assist in instructional activities, prepare materials and supervise students to support learning objectives. Qualified applicants will have an Associate's Degree or two years of college, be at least 18, and demonstrate strong communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Transcript documentation Associate's Degree or two years of college (72 quarter hours) or passed the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Assessment test.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to supervise students in instructional settings in a team environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding requirements of the job.
• Knowledge of English usage, mathematics and the subjects taught.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences for students enrolled in programs; provide feedback on student performance and testing activities.
• Assist teachers in devising strategies to reinforce material based on individual needs and abilities.
• Assist in instruction of students in group or one-on-one settings, often without direct teacher supervision.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
• Monitor classroom management according to the District's discipline procedures.
• Supervise students in and outside of the classroom with a focus on safety.
• Perform clerical functions, student record keeping and file maintenance.
• Assist with supervision during drills, assemblies and play periods.
• Read to students, listen to students read and participate in oral communication with students.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, supervise testing and make-up work as assigned.
• Handle discipline problems per district procedures.
• Alert the teacher to any problem or information about a student.
• Serve as a resource for substitutes in absence of the regular teacher.
• Participate in in-service programs.
• Act as friendly ambassador for the North Bend School District.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by administration.
