Job summary

District School Board Ontario North East seeks an Educational Assistant at Englehart High School to support students with diverse needs. This is a 1.0 FTE full-time, temporary position (32.5 hours/week) starting as soon as possible through June 25, 2027 or return of the absent employee.

The successful candidate will provide classroom support in integrated and high-support settings, collaborate with teachers, and help students access the curriculum while fostering a safe, inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Developmental Services Worker, or related field, and/or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience working with students with special education needs of varying ages, preferably in a school setting.

Position Summary:

Educational Assistants provide classroom support to students based on their individual academic, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical needs. This includes supporting students to access the curriculum and meet their full potential in both integrated and high support settings.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Developmental Services Worker, or related field, and/or equivalent. Demonstrated experience working with students with special education needs of varying ages, preferably in a school setting.

Compensation:

Salary in accordance with the current OSSTF-EA collective agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca)

$25.76 per hour - $30.55 per hour (plus vacation pay)

DSB1 may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist in screening and assessing applicants, as defined under the Employment Standards Act (ESA). AI is not used to make final hiring decisions. In DSB1, final hiring decisions are made by DSB1 staff.
