Job summary

Bear River First Nation is seeking an education support role to assist students, model positive behaviors, and collaborate with a professional team to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.

You will help with routine activities, create visual schedules, and support programs designed by therapists and specialists. The position is in-person, with data recording and supervision responsibilities, and requires a two-year diploma and a clear background check.

Qualifications

• Clear Criminal, Child Abuse and Vulnerable Sector check
• Minimum two year diploma in education or support work

Responsibilities

• Establishing a report with students
• Model appropriate behavior and reactions to events
• Work as a part of the professional team to ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone
• Assist students with routine, this may involve creating visual schedules, giving reminders in order for transitions to move smoother
• Implement programs as prepared by speech language pathologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other professionals
• Assist with program support when directed and monitored by teaching staff
• Assist students in completing assigned classroom activities/work or catching up on work missed
• Encourage students to respect the classroom expectations as well as the outside expectations
• Model and encourage respect for self and others
• Record data and observations as requested
• Provide supervision for students
• Be flexible with your workday
