Job description
Job Summary

The Education Coordinator reports directly to the LTC Administrator and is responsible to develop, manage and coordinate education programs on behalf of the LTC member-communities. The position emphasizes communication and partnership development to ensure educational programs meet community goals and student needs. The Education Coordinator writes funding proposals, oversee current programs, and identifies future opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a current understanding of the needs of member communities and their members in relation to education. Make recommendation to the LTC Chiefs Council on future directions.
  • Co‑ordinate and provide support to the St’át’imc Education Authority (SEA).
  • Keep current with School District’s relationship to St’át’imc students. Advise LTC Chiefs Council on recommendations for improvement or participation.
  • Provide bi-monthly reports to LTC Chiefs.
  • Participate, where possible, and advise member communities concerning the First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) activities.
  • Actively participate at the First People Education Council (FPEC) working group ensuring good communication lines are developed for communities.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of professional development for education coordinators and SD74 staff focusing on St’át’imc student learning needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the LTC and SD74, facilitating meaningful collaboration on annual targeted funds proposals, student achievement initiatives, curriculum development, cultural programming, and support services.
Qualifications/ Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5-years’ experience or combination of education and work experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of St’át’imc culture/language, and communities.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills and a good understanding of financial management.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sectors Check.
Working Conditions
  • May include occasional evening or weekend work for meetings or events.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package will be provided including an attractive wage salary range of $34.00 - $37.00 per hour based upon qualifications, experience, and skills set.
