Job summary

School District 71 (Comox Valley) invites applications for the position of Education Assistant - Elementary/Secondary. The role involves supporting students K–12, assisting in learning support, behaviour management and personal care under teacher supervision.

Positions are assigned by the Inclusive Education department and may move between classrooms and programs such as LifeSkills, ENTER, swim programs and field trips. End date is June 29, 2026 or until the incumbent returns.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education with Human Services Worker certificate and related coursework.
• Behaviour strategies and crisis prevention training (CPI).
• CPR-AED Level C First Aid certification.
• ABA training and Food Safe Level 1 certification.

Responsibilities

• Support individual or small groups of students in multiple settings per IEP.
• Assist with instructional tasks, daily living activities and behaviour support.
• Follow Student Learning Plans and Safety/Behaviour plans.
• Coordinate with teachers, nurses and specialists as required.
