EIPS is recruiting a permanent full-time Education Assistant at Brentwood Elementary.
Brentwood Elementary serves approximately 425 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 21 teaching staff and 12 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.
Three unique programs operate at Brentwood, including the Elementary program for kindergarten to Grade 6, the Logos Christian program for kindergarten to Grade 6 and the specialized Generating Occupational, Academic and Life Skills (GOALS) program for grades 1 to 6. While protecting the integrity of each, all staff and students work together as part of the Brentwood family. One special initiative that helps to build school unity is the Character Education program.
The Education Assistant (EA) assists teachers in creating a welcoming, safe, and caring classroom that supports effective learning and student success. Reporting to the Principal, the EA is assigned to assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and during school activities. This includes providing student supervision and assisting students with personal, physical, and medical care. Under the direction of the teacher, and through interdisciplinary team planning, the position supports programming for students and assists with the implementation of developmental and behavioural strategies. The Certified EA has received specialized training to assist children and youth who have a wide range of abilities and exceptionalities including significant emotional and behavioural challenges, learning difficulties and complex physical health concerns.
