Position: EDC Student Position – Investment Team (4-8 month contract)

Employment Type: Full-time Contract, 4 – 8 month contract

Compensation Details:

Student, New Grad & Master’s salaries range from $42,900 to $56,550 annually, based on year of study. Please see the salary breakdown by year of study below:

$42,900 ($22.00 / hour) - 1st Year

$44,850 ($23.00 / hour) - 2nd Year

$46,800 ($24.00 / hour) - 3rd Year

$48,750 ($25.00 / hour) - 4th Year and Beyond

$54,600 ($28.00 / hour) - New Graduate (Undergraduate)

$56,550 ($29.00 / hour) - Master’s / PhD

Location:

Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)

This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.

Overview

EDC Investments is an evergreen investment group with over $4 billion in committed and invested capital in private equity, venture capital, and fund investments. EDC Investments is seeking a Co-Op student with a financial background and a demonstrated interest in private equity investments to be an important contributor. The candidate will be a current student of an undergraduate business school program, with a concentration in Finance. The role will involve portfolio management activities, conducting research, and assisting with transaction due diligence, including building financial models and assisting with fair market valuation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Assist the team with monitoring the performance of a portfolio of investments and prepare fair market valuation assessments.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Assist the portfolio management team with data analytics for reporting up to the Investment Committee and leadership.
  • Due Diligence: Assist Analysts and Associates with specific elements of diligence and investment proposals by conducting research and analysis of highly complex and / or high-risk transactions.
  • Financial Models: Utilize customized Excel financial models for valuation, risk assessment, and cash flow profiling purposes.
  • Transaction Teamwork: Work collaboratively within a team of private equity specialists and EDC internal teams, including business development, technical advisory services, legal services, treasury and accounting, and risk management.
  • Legal Documentation: Develop familiarity with term sheet provisions.
Screening Criteria
  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance.
  • Demonstrated outstanding financial modeling skills.
Assets
  • Previous Co‑Op experience in a private equity, investment banking, corporate development, consulting, or transaction services setting.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages (English and French).
