Position Overview

The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for careers in the health care sector, offering specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and wellness training. Our programs emphasize hands-on learning through classrooms and simulated environments.

The Opportunity

The faculty member facilitates student learning, supports achievement of learning outcomes, and collaborates to create a student-centered, innovative, and pedagogically sound environment. This position involves providing instruction specifically in hematology labs for the Medical Laboratory Technology program during fall and winter terms. It is a casual contract starting September 5, 2023, with a minimum of 60 hours per term, located on the SAIT campus.

The Role
  1. Class Contact: Facilitate and supervise students’ learning in various settings, using effective lessons, activities, and assessments.
  2. Class Management: Keep course materials current, support students' progress, manage safety, and maintain records.
  3. Other Duties: Participate in meetings, program development, scholarly activities, and collaborate with faculty and partners.
Qualifications
  1. Regulated Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma from an accredited program.
  2. 2-3 years of experience as an MLT in Canada, with hematology experience preferred.
  3. Registered MLT in Alberta and member of CSMLS.
  4. Additional preferred qualifications include teaching or mentoring experience, and hematology or transfusion medicine expertise.
  5. Skills include fluency in English, public speaking, professionalism, curriculum delivery, strong interpersonal skills, and intermediate computer skills.
Compensation and Application

Salary Range: $36.42 - $39.39 per hour
