Job summary

CMHA Waterloo Wellington is hiring a Mental Health Clinician (1st Step Team) on a full-time contract until January 14, 2028 (35 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) at 80 Waterloo Ave., Guelph and 1145 Concession Rd., Cambridge.

Utilize your mental health assessment and intervention skills to support individuals aged 14-35 and families in recovery from acute psychotic symptoms related to a first episode of psychosis within the Early Psychosis Intervention program.

Qualifications

• Masters level degree in psychology, social work or relevant health or social science field
• Registration with relevant college/registering body
• 3 to 5 years of related experience in providing community-based mental health/addictions services
• Knowledge of needs of people with mental health/addictions concerns and families
• Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and consultative services for individuals experiencing a first episode psychosis
• Engage individuals who are experiencing a first psychotic episode
• Complete a comprehensive assessment of the person’s life situation, goals and ambitions, level of risk, mental status, and needed services
• Coordinate and facilitate access to EPI hub team for specialized assessment and consultation
• Provide services in a case management model
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy intervention in various contexts
• Coordinate required services and monitor implementation of service plans
• Serve as primary contact for the person and coordinate hub team services
• Ensure service plan is implemented and multidisciplinary assessments are integrated
• Promote wellness, community integration and access to supports
