Salary :

Under the direction of the Director of the Early Learning Center, the Early Childhood Educator (ECE 1 or 2) is responsible for children, aged 12 months to 4 years old, in all aspects related to development of their learning skills, hygiene, health, wellness and safety. ECEs oversee planning and the application of a well-balanced programs of activities for the age group assigned to them.

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
  • Strive to create a happy atmosphere of caring, growth, learning, stimulation, creativity and respect.
  • Assist with the preparation of activities based on the centers philosophy and policies.
  • Supervise and guide the children indoor and outdoor activities.
  • In conjunction with other staff, plan, organize, and lead children in activities, storytelling, and teaching songs, designed to stimulate intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.
  • Guide and assist children in the development of healthy nutrition and proper eating habits.
  • Implementing positive behaviour guidance.
  • Communicating with parents, families, and staff.
  • With the cooperation of all other Daycare staff, maintain a clean and safe environment for children.
  • Attend regular staff meetings to discuss progress or possible concerns with a child or children.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education with a current Level 1 or 2 ECE Classification.
  • Knowledge of Mikmaq language and culture are a strong asset.
  • Kind, compassionate, personable, reliable, energetic, positive, and creative!
  • Prior experience working in childcare an asset.
  • Proven record of working as a team member.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Clear Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • First Aid & CPR Level C Certification.
  • WHMIS.
  • Safe food handling course.
