Job summary

Sheridan College is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to plan and implement quality programming for children, support student teachers on placement, and maintain ongoing communication with families and college staff. This on-site role is a temporary replacement at the Mississauga Civic Centre campus.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a team in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate leadership, and adapt to rotating schedules while upholding safety and inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Two-year diploma from an Ontario Community College.
• Practicum in preschool and in a child care centre.
• Current First Aid & Infant/Child CPR (C).
• Police Vulnerable Sector Screen and medical suitability.
• Knowledge of play-based, emergent curriculum.
• Ontario pedagogy for early learning.
• Demonstrated leadership, flexibility, and communication.
• Lift capability up to 44 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing daily activities based on observation and assessment.
• Guiding children in all development areas per program philosophy.
• Ensuring health and safety of children in the program.
• Designing individual learning plans, including for children with special needs.
• Maintaining ongoing communications with families, Sheridan faculty and staff.
• Supervising classroom, playground and routine activities.
• Assisting ECE students and monitoring their progress.
• Demonstrating professional teamwork to ensure program compatibility.
• Implementing inclusive learning plans within the program time.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
