Job description
POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor, carries out activity programs for children in the Child Care Centre.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs and participates with planned and routine activities.
  • Plans and implements developmentally appropriate learning activities/programs based on the holistic development of all children.
  • Maintains an orderly, tidy and fully equipped Centre by ensuring that materials are available and requests for replacements and repairs are made when necessary.
  • Participates in staff and parent meetings, special events and works with outside agencies.
  • Participates in orientation of new staff and students.
  • Completes forms required for statistical data.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
  • Diploma in early childhood education or early childhood education equivalency.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act.
Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • A demonstrated ability to meet and work with people.
Assets
  • Certification as an Early Childhood Educator would be an asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).
  • Must have and maintain First Aid Certification.
  • Must have and maintain Safe Food Handling Certification (Level 1).
  • Must have and maintain an up-to-date record of immunization.
  • Prior to commencing employment, must provide documentary evidence of having undergone a one-step tuberculosis skin test.
  • Must have and maintain membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
