Job summary

YMCA Massey Care and Learning Centre in Prince George, BC is hiring Early Childhood Educators and assistants for permanent, full-time roles. The team will provide high-quality child care, engaging activities, and family communication daily using the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.

Position requires ECE license (BC) and CPR-C/AED with references and vulnerable sector check. Competitive benefits and career development offered.

Qualifications

  • Must hold ECE license from a BC-recognized program.
  • ITE is preferred for infant/toddler care.
  • SNE credential is an asset for supporting diverse learners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care and creative programming directly to the children.
  • Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families.
  • Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families.
  • Deliver high quality and age-appropriate programs based on YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.
  • Ensure constant active supervision and collaborate to facilitate transitions between play areas.
  • Utilize the parent communication app (Weemarkable) to provide daily updates.
  • Keep a clean and safe environment in all spaces.
  • Follow YMCA and licensing requirements including curriculum standards.

Skills

Education

Job description

Location: YMCA Massey Care and Learning Centre (2020 Massey Dr, Prince George, BC V2M 2S6)

Term: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift: Monday - Friday shifts will rotate between the hours of 7:30am - 5:30pm

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $31.56 per hour (Including $6/hour Provincial Wage Enhancement Program for ECE license)

Nature & Scope

Early childhood educators and assistants at the YMCA ensure a safe and engaging environment for all children. By adhering to the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, they design, and lead activities tailored to the interests and developmental stages of the children in their care. These educators also cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents, fellow educators, and community partners to deliver high-quality childcare within the communities we serve.

Major Responsibilities - in this position, you will :
  • Provide quality care and creative programming directly to the children
  • Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families
  • Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families
  • Deliver high quality andage-appropriateprograms based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
  • Ensure constant active supervisor and collaborate as a team to facilitate smooth transitions between play areas.
  • Utilize our parent communication app ( Weemarkable ) toprovide daily communication and updates
  • Keep a clean and safe environment – in all program areas and common spaces
  • Follow all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL) and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards
Qualification - you bring :
  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) License from a program recognized in British Columbia is required
  • Infant ToddlerEducator(ITE)is preferred
  • Special NeedsEducator (SNE) isan asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Anytraining related to child growth anddevelopmentis an asset
  • Emergency First Aidand CPR-C & AED certificate required (to be obtained within 30days after the start date)
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
