A little about our EarlyON Child and Family Centre

The Mothercraft EarlyON Child and Family Centre provides opportunities for children from birth to 6 years of age to participate in play and inquiry-based programs and supports parents and caregivers in their roles. It offers safe and welcoming environments open to all families. Families and caregivers will be able to find support, advice, make personal connections and access a network of resources.

Job summary

As our newest Early Childhood Assistant / Administrative Assistant you will play a crucial role in shaping the minds of young children and delivering early learning and family support programs to families and young children. You will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn and grow and for providing administrative support to the program.

Your passion for early childhood education and ability to connect with both children and parents on their level will be instrumental in fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere. You’ll work alongside a team of dedicated educators, collaborating to provide the highest quality care and education for our children.

As an Early Childhood Assistant / Administrative Assistant you will

  • Report to the Manager, EarlyON Child and Family Centre and provide inclusive early learning and family support programs that engage families and young children
  • Support and assist with implementing play-based learning opportunities to promote stimulation in all areas of development by using the ELECT framework
  • Collaborate with families and professionals to support each child’s needs
  • Welcome and greet visitors, caregivers and staff at reception and answer and respond to phone calls and emails about Mothercraft’s programs
  • Support with administrative duties including maintaining files, organizing mail and deliveries, printing documents, supporting MailChimp email campaigns and preparing program flyers
  • Support caregivers with KeyON registration and collect and manage data for the program including providing reports and entering data in Excel
  • Support program room set-up and sanitizing and end-of-session cleaning and ensure physical environment meets Ministry, City and Public Health standards
  • Regular evening (Wednesday) and weekend (Saturday) work and travel program locations in Toronto are required

You will be set up for success if you have

  • Completion of a Community College Certificate / Diploma in Early Childhood Assistant Diploma is an asset
  • 1 to 2 years of office experience plus at least 1 year of experience working with children aged 0-6 years
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, filing, record keeping and basic office management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR certificate
  • Satisfactory vulnerable sector police reference check
  • Immunizations and health assessment in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act
