Job summary

YWCA Hamilton seeks a dedicated childcare assistant in Hamilton, ON. You will supervise children, implement age-appropriate activities, and maintain strong communication with families and staff.

The role includes supporting the RECE team, documenting development, and ensuring adherence to policies and health guidelines. Requirements include a high school diploma and at least 2 years in licensed childcare, with First Aid/CPR and a Vulnerable Sector check.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a licensed childcare setting.
• MS Office knowledge including Excel and Word.
• Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost.
• Must have current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost.

Responsibilities

• Creates a stimulating environment for children and ensures safety through supervision and attendance protocols.
• Plans age-appropriate weekly programs with RECE team; implements curriculum to meet needs.
• Maintains positive communication with parents, families and community partners.
• Supervises students and volunteers; supports staff and classrooms as needed.
