    Calgary, AB / Academic – School of Manufacturing, Automation & Transportation / SAFA Temporary Salary / On-site Apply for this job SAIT’s School of Manufacturing, Automation & Transportation provides the skills-based training and development to prepare students for a career in Alberta's rapidly growing oil and gas, transportation, manufacturing and automation sectors. We provide applied learning in action through our trades and technology programs. The Opportunity We are seeking a full-time temporary salaried instructor who is a dynamic team-oriented individual to instruct within the Heavy Equipment Technician Programs. The candidate will be a team player demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to learner success. This position will appeal to an individual who seeks the challenges and opportunities to work with learners. Note: This is a temporary position from June 2023 through June 2024. However, there may be gaps in the instructing period and have a possibility for extension.
    The Role
    • Prepare and present lessons to learners
    • Instruct, supervise, and coach learners in a classroom and shop environment
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback to learners by assessing and evaluating learner progress and achievement
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment
    • Continuously develop professionally by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills
    • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
    Qualifications
    • You must hold an Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status
    • You must have at least five years’ experience as a journeyperson in either off-road equipment and/or on-road vehicles or equivalent.
    • Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies specifically in diesel engines, electrical & electronics, braking systems, and suspension systems and hydraulics.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OEM proprietary software (Wabco, Cat ET,etc.) and/or other related software (Adobe suite, D2L etc.) will be considered assets.
    • Dual certification will be considered an asset (e.g., Automotive & Heavy Duty)
    • Prior teaching experience will also be considered an asset.
