Job description

About the Position: The Centre for Trades is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills to instruct in our Pre-Employment and Apprenticeship Electrician programs. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for delivering excellent theoretical and hands-on instruction and curriculum maintenance using Lethbridge Polytechnic resources.

This is a full-time temporary position for the 2025-2026 academic year, with the possibility of extension. This is a great opportunity for someone to discover if teaching is for them.

Position Details:

  • Instruct various essential portions of the program (Lecture, Lab,CBAT, Dual Credit, etc..)
  • Promote the program and facilitate recruitment of students
  • Manage class schedules
  • Track student progress and implement interventions as needed
  • Content development and ongoing updates and maintenance
  • Use canvas learning management system and Mobius testing programs
  • Answer and respond to in-person, telephone, and email inquiries
  • Purchase of materials and equipment
  • Provide reports and updates to the Associate Dean as needed
  • Establish and maintain critical relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Administrative tasks as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Alberta Journeyman Electrician Certification, with a minimum of five years’ experience in the trade
  • Strong diagnostic skills
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software plus an aptitude to learn new software applications and systems
  • Self-motivated and ability to work positively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous formal and/or informal teaching experience is considered an asset
  • Red Seal Certification is considered an asset
  • Master Electrician Certificate is considered an asset
