This posting will be used to fill 1 term full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly ending March 31, 2026. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions. Temporary Assignments may be considered with prior approval from substantive manager.
This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon .
Our team
The Yukon Immunization Program provides technical, guidance, training and vaccine product support to immunizers across the territory including pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other health care providers in support of the Yukon’s publicly funded immunization program.
Your role
As part of the Community Health Programs team, you will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, and evaluation of the Yukon Immunization Program. In this pivotal role, you will develop standards and guidelines, actively participate in national vaccine working groups and ensure that stakeholders are educated and trained in the most up-to-date immunization standards
.
Your most important function will be providing leadership to your team as well as to other health care professionals throughout the territory. Whether it's providing expert advice to nurses on the front line of delivering the vaccination program, or mentoring and coaching health care providers, your in-depth knowledge, strong technical writing skills, and unmatched communication skills will be key success factors
.

Essential qualifications

- Current Canadian licensure as a Registered Nurse;
- Considerable and recent experience in the delivery of immunizations;
- Experience managing staff and providing leadership to health care professionals
- Experience providing training in adult education and/or mentoring/coaching techniques
- Experience in developing standards of practice, policies, and protocols is an asset

- Knowledge of immunization practices and vaccine-preventable diseases, particularly in northern or remote communities.
- Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships through communication and collaboration with colleagues and clients
- Demonstrates a client centred approach that demonstrate aptitude in public health and program/service delivery
- Ability to think strategically in the planning and implementation of vaccination programs, anticipating challenges, and identifying opportunities for improvement in public health delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to uphold ethical standards and practices, ensuring that all activities align with established public health guidelines, professional codes of conduct, and territorial or national standards of practice.

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector;
- TB screening;
- Current registration with Yukon Registered Nurses Association;
- CPR-HCP certification;
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence or equivalent;
- TDG certificate (completed within 2 months of hire);
- Yukon Immunization certificate (completed within 1 month of hire);
- WHMIS 2015 (within 1 month of hire).
Job Requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- The position works in an office environment
- The incumbent may be required to travel within the Yukon and occasionally outside of the territory
- This position lives and works in the Yukon; it is not fly in/fly out
