Job summary

A leading community support organization in Toronto is seeking a Part-Time Support Worker 1 to enhance individuals' capacity for community living. Responsibilities include providing personal care, implementing life plans, and supporting emotional well-being. Qualifications

  • Successful completion of internal legislated training is required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned duties related to service and support.
  • Support assessment of individuals' day-to-day needs.
  • Provide personal and physical care, including medication administration.

Skills

Knowledge of health-care procedures
Experience with mechanical equipment (wheelchairs, lifts, G-tubes)
Valid driver’s licence

Education

Community Living Toronto is one of the largest agencies of its kind in North America, supporting over 6,000 individuals with intellectual disability, including residential and day support, assistance with employment, community support, early childhood services, and respite.

Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma, 6 months of related work experience and knowledge of health‑care procedures and mechanical equipment – wheelchairs, lifts, G‑tubes and other specialized equipment.
  • Post‑secondary education with focus on Social Services or Developmental Services is considered an equivalent; no related working experience required.
  • Successful completion of internal legislated and mandated training is required.
  • Valid driver’s licence is an asset.
Job Summary

Contributes to the delivery of supports and programs consistent with life plans to meet the needs of individuals in order to enhance their capacity to function in all aspects of community living.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out regularly assigned or prescribed duties related to the provision of services and supports.
  • Support assessment of day‑to‑day needs of individuals and implementation of life plans, monitoring achievement of personal outcomes.
  • Provide appropriate personal and physical care, including medication administration and crisis response.
  • Liaise with friends and family as required to address needs and share information on behalf of individuals.
  • Support life‑skills training and provide emotional support to individuals on a one‑on‑one or group basis.
