Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited in Severn, Ontario is seeking a dedicated driver to join the Arborist team. You will ensure crew and equipment reach job sites safely and on time, then assist on-site with pruning and removal tasks.

Required are a valid provincial license (AZ/DZ preferred), ability to lift 50 lbs, and strong teamwork. This is a full-time, on-site role with an excellent benefits package.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license. AZ or DZ license.
• Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping.
• Arborist certification or willingness to work towards.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Understanding and implementation of safely ascending tree canopies at heights.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to various job sites.
• Perform and log daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck interior and exterior.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew.
• Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems as needed.
• Removal of hazardous trees.

Position Overview

As a driver with Davey Tree you will be responsible for ensuring the crew and equipment arrive at the job site safely and on time. Once at site you will join the rest of the crew as an Arborist Assistant; providing your in-depth knowledge and skills to ensure the job gets done right and on time.

Job Duties

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to various job sites as required.
• Perform and log daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck, keeping interior and exterior of vehicle free of debris.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.

Including but not limited to:

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Additional Information

• Full time. Year-round employment.
• $20-$25/hour. Wage will be determined based on education, experience, and relevant qualifications or certifications.
