Job summary

A drywall installation company in Vaughan is seeking a drywall installer to apply and smooth plaster coats and install drywall sheets. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience, is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, and is prepared for physically demanding tasks. This is a full-time, on-site position offering $36.10 hourly.

Qualifications

• 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in drywall installation.
• Experience in handling heavy loads and performing repetitive tasks.
• Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work in Canada.

Overview

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements;
• Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster;
• Cure freshly plastered surfaces;
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings;
• Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required;
• Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency;
• Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim;
• Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists;
• Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry;
• Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings;
• Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound;
• Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces;
• Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets;
• Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath;
• Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied;
• Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools;
• Prepare wall and ceiling layouts;
• Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms.
