As a Driver I, you will be responsible for transporting a range of products including, but not limited to, mail, packages, medical supplies, equipment, food and linen, in accordance with AHS standards, regulations and policies. Servicing all of the Calgary Acute Site Hospitals and supporting Health Care Centers Shipping covering 20 plus different transportation routes. Our team is part of an integrated supply chain with all of Alberta and one of the two primary Distribution Centers for AHS. Working independently, you must adhere to scheduled routes, as well as ad hoc requests, in a safe and courteous manner. You will be expected to perform a series of routine duties such as logging mileage, cleaning vehicles, performing pre and post vehicle inspections and reporting defects and malfunctions to management.

Required Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator’s Licence. Completion of valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate.

Additional Required Qualifications

Knowledge of city roadways. 3 years related experience driving 3 and 5 ton vehicles. 2 years accident‑free driving with 3 or less demerit points. Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Establish and maintain effective relationships with all staff and public. Must be physically capable of frequent heavy lifting, bending, and carrying of objects up to 40 kg. Able to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions. Must be reliable and capable of working independently. A working knowledge of current methods of safe driving. Must be neat in appearance, well organized, accurate, and alert and possess good judgment. Ability to reason and react quickly in stressful situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum one (1) year related experience in a transportation. Material handling equipment certification. Knowledge of Oracle. Knowledge of health care supplies and equipment.
