GFL Environmental is seeking a Class 3 Front Load Driver in Victoria, British Columbia. You will safely and efficiently provide waste removal services, interact with customers, and operate a Front Load Vehicle on designated routes.

The role requires a valid CDL Class 3, at least 1 year of driving experience (or CDL school certificate), physical stamina, and the ability to work in varying conditions. Training and team support are provided.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class 3 required.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate.
• Ability to operate and maneuver a Front Load Vehicle and back into spaces using mirrors.

Mansioni

• Meet with the team on arrival and review equipment and routes.
• Drive and operate a Front Load Vehicle on assigned routes.
• Transport collected waste to post-collection facilities.
• Maneuver the truck in tight spaces and ensure safe operation.
• Use GPS/map to locate service addresses and follow routes.
• Follow safe operating practices including lock out/tag out procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck and surroundings.
• Submit pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports.
• Interact with customers politely along routes.
• Notify management of issues along the route.
• Complete afternoon tasks and prep for next day.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Licensing: Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class 3.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate.
• Equipment Operation: Ability to control operations of equipment; maneuvering truck in and out of spaces, using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or more.
• Maintenance Knowledge: Knowledge of trucks, their components, and the basic maintenance requirements for safe operation.
• Physical Effort: Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 50 lbs.
• Motor Coordination: Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity.
• Mobility: Ability to kneel, crawl and climb.
• Posture Requirement: Sitting is required 75% of the time.
• Working Conditions: Will vary based on weather conditions; may include exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold and fumes.

Responsibilities

• Daily Preparation: Upon arriving to work, meet with the team, assess all equipment and upcoming routes, and prepare for the day ahead.
• Vehicle Operation: Driving and operating a Front Load Vehicle on assigned routes, mechanically collecting waste.
• Waste Transport: Transporting all collected solid waste to post-collection facilities.
• Precision Maneuvering: Maneuvering truck in and out of minimum clearance spaces.
• Route Navigation: Using a key map and GPS to locate service addresses.
• Safe Operating Practices: Following safe operating practices, including lock out or tag out procedures.
• Equipment Cleanliness: Cleaning loose trash off the truck or ground around truck.
• Site Maintenance: Maintaining a clean site along roads and highways by tidying container spills that occur during dumping process.
• Inspections & Reporting: Submitting pre-trip and post-trip inspections and/or vehicle condition reports.
• Customer Interaction: Interacting with customers or general public in a courteous manner along designated route.
• Route Communication: Notifying management of any issues along collection route.
• Afternoon Workflow: Perform afternoon tasks, either continuing tasks from the morning or starting new ones (schedule may vary depending on the day-to-day, start time, etc.).
• End-of-Day Wrap-Up: Before heading home, appropriately store equipment and lay groundwork for a smooth next day.
