Job summary

Coeur Mining is hiring a Driller for the Rainy River mine in Ontario, Canada. The Driller will operate down-the-hole drills in an open-pit setting, follow drill plans, and support production safely and efficiently. Camp and travel are provided, with a 7/7 schedule and shift rotations to cover days and nights.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of drilling or heavy equipment experience, practical DTH drill operation, and strong safety and communication skills. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of drilling or heavy equipment experience in open-pit mining.
  • Experience operating DTH hammer drills preferred.
  • Ability to read drill plans, parameters and procedures.
  • Strong safety mindset and clear communication.
  • Ability to work long shifts outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Review drilling instructions, parameters and procedures and apply them correctly.
  • Monitor drilling progress and adjust parameters within limits for safe performance.
  • Receive handover from the previous shift and confirm status of activities and equipment.
  • Inspect, prepare and set up equipment for the shift.
  • Safely operate drilling equipment and complete drilling activities.
  • Complete operational reports and equipment records accurately and on time.

Rainy River

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About the Role

Schedule: Shift 7/7 Schedule - 12 Hour Days/Nights - Camp & Travel Provided

Position Reports To: DrillSupervisor

Position Overview: The Driller is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of down-the-hole (DTH) hammer drills within an open-pit mining environment. Working with a fleet that includes DK75 and 650i drills, this role supports production activities by completing drilling work safely, accurately, and in accordance with operational requirements. The successful candidate will bring relevant drilling experience, strong equipment awareness, and a consistent commitment to safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review drilling instructions, parameters, and work procedures to ensure they are understood and applied correctly.
  • Monitor drilling progress and adjust drilling parameters within established limits to support safe and efficient performance.
  • Receive a detailed handover from the previous shift and confirm the status of drilling activities and equipment before beginning work.
  • Inspect, prepare, and set up the equipment required for the assigned shift.
  • Safely operate drilling equipment and complete drilling activities and complex equipment manoeuvres as required.
  • Complete all required operational reports, equipment records, and related documentation accurately and on time.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in drilling or operating heavy equipment in an open-pit mining environment
  • Experience operating down-the-hole (DTH) hammer drills is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to read and follow drill plans, drilling parameters, and operating procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to identify and report equipment concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work extended shifts, including days and nights, in varying outdoor conditions.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator training is considered an asset.
  • First Aid, Mine Rescue, and applicable mining certifications are considered assets.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is considered an asset.

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $72,000 - $100,000/year.
