We are seeking multiple experienced Drafters to support a major Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project. These roles require strong fabrication drafting experience, advanced 3D modeling skills, and the ability to translate design inputs into accurate, fabrication-ready drawings. This is not a CAD-operator role—true drafting and fabrication knowledge is essential.
Candidates must have, or be able to obtain quickly, OPG Security Clearance.
Develop detailed 3D models using Autodesk Inventor (primary) and AutoCAD (secondary).
Create high-quality 2D fabrication drawings, ensuring consistent formatting and standards.
Apply fabrication knowledge to define part views, dimensions, details, welding notes, and assembly representations.
Interpret designer-provided specifications, including:
Stud spacing requirements
Airlocks, penetrations, doorways
Welding details and structural requirements
Review design inputs such as:
Title blocks
Drawing numbers and part numbering systems
Provided 2D design drawings
Participate in model reviews with a multidisciplinary team (via Microsoft Teams).
Execute revision control processes and maintain drawing accuracy throughout design iterations.
Upload final drawings and models to secure platforms (e.g., Oracle/Aconex).
5+ years of drafting experience, preferably in mechanical, structural, civil, or plate work.
Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Solid understanding of fabrication processes, welded assemblies, and shop-ready drafting.
Demonstrated ability to set up complete drawing packages (views, dimensions, notes, BOMs).
Experience with revision control and controlled document environments.
Ability to interpret engineering design inputs and work collaboratively with designers and engineers.
Eligible for OPG Security Clearance.
Experience within the nuclear industry.
Knowledge of Oracle/Aconex or similar secure document management platforms.
Experience drafting welded, structural, and fabricated components.
Strong problem-solving and design interpretation skills.
Leadership or coordination capability (optional; not a requirement).
Contract / Independent Contractor options available
12‑month duration
Not a management role, but senior‑level drafters may be considered for elevated responsibilities
