About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary part-time Donor Services Representative to join our dynamic Donor Centre Richmond Hill team.

The Donor Centre team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be providing excellent customer service by greeting donors, confirming appointments, rebooking donors at events, and serving potential donors.

  • Superb communication and people skills are vital as you will play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience and encouraging donations.
  • Interpersonal skills will allow you to work in a diverse team environment, working together to ensure a successful donor centre event.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail will ensure the workstation is ready and working properly to support the donor centre. This includes getting the computer and printer ready, ensuring the appointment schedule is printed and updating the booking system online.
Desired education and skills
  • Completion of high school.
  • One year of experience in a hospitality or customer service-oriented environment or previous experience working with volunteers would be considered an asset.
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
  • A second language would be considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.
  • Physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).

What you can expect
  • Shifts/hours will vary. You must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs; length of shifts varies according to the event which takes place at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Travel may be required for mobile events in our communities.
