About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Donor Centre Manager to join our dynamic Collections Operations East team. The Donor Centre Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of their designated donor centre ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. This role focuses on delivering exceptional donor experience meeting operational and financial targets and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage operational management skills to oversee all aspects of donor centre operations including regulatory compliance, efficient workflows, staff productivity, quality and safety while continuously seeking improvements.
  • Utilize resource management skills to ensure adequate staffing, supplies and equipment to meet collection goals, manage staff recruitment, mentoring and development, handle budget planning and oversight and collaborate with other teams on scheduling for maximum efficiency.
  • Draw from customer service experience to improve the donation experience, build donor loyalty and track key metrics such as donation time, satisfaction, feedback and deferrals implementing improvements and ensuring timely donor communication.
  • Use strong leadership skills to create a positive and inclusive work environment, motivate and support staff development, communicate regularly with teams and leadership and coach and mentor direct reports while collaborating with other managers to develop annual collection plans.
  • Liaise with the Quality Assurance department to promote and implement a continuous quality improvement cycle, oversee non‑conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions and participate in audits including development of improvement plans and communication with the team.

  • Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in related supervisory/ management/ leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in customer service and operational management.
  • Strong leadership communication and team building skills.
  • Proven analytical and decision making skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Experience working in a unionized and regulated environment considered an asset.

What you can expect
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday with occasional evenings.
  • Primarily an on‑site role based at Canadian Blood Services donor centre located at 7 Wicklow St St. Johns Newfoundland and Labrador with occasional travel for mobiles as well as to attend regional and national meetings.
  • Occasional exposure to biohazards during event visits requiring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Frequent use of communication devices and occasional on‑call responsibilities.
