Job Posting: Caretaker (Evening Shift – Part-Time, 5 Hours/Day)

Location: Crescent Heights High School, Medicine Hat, Alberta

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Hours per Week: 25

Employment Type: Part-Time, Unionized (CUPE)

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Caretaker to join our team and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. As a caretaker, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational mission of our school by ensuring our facilities are clean, secure, and well‑maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and restock supplies
  • Ensure building security and assist with facility safety
  • Report maintenance issues and safety concerns
  • Support event set‑up and takedown, and assist with furniture moves
  • Collaborate with staff and project a positive image of the school
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of caretaking experience preferred
  • Valid WHMIS certification
  • Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, tools, and safety regulations
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, vacuums, floor burnishers)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively
  • Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a police information check with vulnerable sector as well as complete job specific pre‑employment testing as a condition of the job offer.
