Job summary

Canadian Tire Corporation is seeking a District Sales Manager who understands our retail and dealer model. You will lead with integrity and empathy to uphold a customer-centric brand standard across your region.

The role requires resilience, self-direction, and the ability to inspire teams and dealers without direct reporting lines, while driving performance in Auto Service, Merchandising, Logistics, Garden Centre and more.

  • Conduct ORR in Stores, providing coaching and feedback to teams.
  • Partner with Associate Dealers to balance business plans with corporate priorities.
  • Understand market demographics and competitive landscape to inform planning.
  • Communicate aligned corporate objectives clearly in writing, verbally and in person.

Job description

A successful DSM (District Sales Manager) will have a strong understanding of Canadian Tire retail and the Dealer model. The DSM will lead with integrity, authenticity and empathy to foster a customer centric brand standard that is fairly and consistently applied across their region. They are resilient, curious, self-driven and commit to continuous development to be at the forefront of retail.

What You’ll Bring
  • A self-driven manager with the ability to work independently, prioritize their time and tasks across multiple locations through strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Takes personal accountability to resolve or identify issues, concerns and challenges escalated from Stores.
  • Ability to recommend effective solutions and leverage additional resources to overcome operational challenges in all areas of the business (Auto Service, Merchandising, Logistics, Garden Centre, etc.)
  • Provide constructive feedback on barriers for the adoption of Corporate programs and provide recommendations to overcome these barriers back to key stakeholders
  • Demonstrates ability to successfully lead people who are not direct reports through influence and collaboration
  • A strong capability to lead in an ambiguous environment and create clarity out of complexity Responsibilities:
  • Maintain an ethical and collaborative relationship between the Dealers and Corporation
  • Champion the execution of Canadian Tires True North Strategy, prioritizing Customers at the Core that enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Conduct the ORR (Operational Readiness Review) in Stores, providing coaching and feedback
  • Partner directly with our Associate Dealers to help balance the Dealers business plan and Corporate priorities
  • General understanding of the market, demographics and competitive landscape
  • Ensure aligned Corporate objectives are understood through written, verbal and in person communication
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Canadian Tire or equivalent retail
  • Required to travel extensively within and, at times, outside of assigned region
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes without authority
  • Ability to interpret data, gain insights and provide recommendations
  • Understanding of the financial levers of a retail store
  • Ability to manage and adhere to a travel expense policy
  • General understanding of current and emerging technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle required
  • Ability to speak French would be an asset

Broadband Salary Range

Our typical hiring range is between 80k and 110k. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
