About The Role – 35120 - Distribution Specialist - RAILROAD Transportation (Centennial CO)

Orica is hiring a Distribution Specialist for Railroad Transportation position in the Centennial, Colorado North American headquarters who will provide expert operational, analytical, and commercial support within the Supply Chain Group for North America. This role is ideal for professionals with a proven track record in railcar fleet management, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost optimization.

This position will interact regularly with rail carriers, rail lessors, plants, customers, and all levels of internal and external stakeholders, both within North America and other regions. A strong background in rail fleet operations—including maintenance programs, utilization strategies, and regulatory compliance—is essential. The day‑to‑day effectiveness of deliveries in North America is directly impacted by the incumbent making decisions and implementing actions that are prompt, responsible, and compliant with both regulatory and corporate guidelines.

What you will be doing

International Logistics

  • Manages Orica’s rail fleet activities including compliance, fleet balance, and fleet utilization.
  • Will be responsible for managing daily rail fleet operations to support production plants and customer requirements.
  • Managing, organizing, and executing railcar fleet maintenance programs.
  • Updates and maintains rail fleet sizing model.
  • Contributes to and assists with railroad and lessor rate negotiations and fleet renewals.
  • Manages, updates, and maintains railcar sharing reconciliation process with joint venture partners.
  • Develops and assists with development of Standard Operating Procedures for various department functions as needed; establishes & maintains standardization of same.
  • Reports on and suggests improvements to fleet inefficiencies to ensure the health and proper utilization of the fleet.
  • Utilizes AI technology to maximize fleet sizing and operational efficiency.

  • Office environment in Centennial CO with prolonged computer usage required.
  • Regularly required to sit, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Required to regularly use technology tools including computers, cell phones, etc.
  • Ability to sustain prolonged use of a computer.
  • Position will require working on‑site at the Centennial office 3 days per week, minimum.
  • Approx. 10‑15% travelling.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics or related discipline preferred.
  • High school diploma and equivalent experience in a customer service or logistics function.
  • Approx. 2‑4 yrs logistics and distribution experience preferred.

Compensation
  • Salary range $78,675 - $100,000 USD.
  • Eligible for annual short‑term incentive plan.

(Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
