Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a Distribution Designer (Broadband) located in Toronto, Ontario to develop designs supporting FTTH infrastructure construction.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Directing surveying teams and working with survey data.
  • Develop and validate base maps.
  • Create electrical drawings using AutoCAD/Microstation software.
  • Perform pole loading analysis using SPIDAcalc.
  • Revise and modify existing drawings to incorporate changes based on feedback from the team.
  • Ensure that all drawings are accurate, detailed, and conform to industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to ensure that designs are completed on time and within budget.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on electrical designs and drawings.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures.
WHAT YOU CAN OFFER
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of telecom design experience.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for electrical drafting and design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to create accurate, detailed drawings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Proficient user of:

  • AutoCAD, SPIDAcalc, Microstation
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
