Job summary

Capital One Canada is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to lead in cloud-based banking solutions. This director-equivalent role requires advanced hands-on development, architecture, and the ability to drive technical vision across domains.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with ML, product, and leadership, and promote engineering excellence in a hybrid work environment with in-office days. This is a high-impact, strategic position within Capital One Canada's software studio.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years software engineering experience.
• At least 7 years of public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 12+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, Kotlin etc.
• 8+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
• 6+ years of experience with private cloud technologies.
• 8+ years of experience with Networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Cloud Networking and Data Center Networking).

About the Role:

As a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, you will be a part of a community of technical experts working to define the future of banking in the cloud.

This is a director equivalent role that does not have direct reports. We require advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture experiences.

You will work alongside our talented team of developers, machine learning experts, product managers and people leaders. Our Distinguished Engineers are leading experts in their domains, helping devise practical and reusable solutions to complex problems. You will drive innovation at multiple levels, helping optimize business outcomes while driving towards strong technology solutions.
