Job summary

Northern Health in Fort St. John is seeking a registered pharmacist to bring expertise to the Dispensary. You will interpret medication orders, assess prescriptions for therapeutic suitability, and ensure accurate dispensing and labeling.

You will collaborate with physicians, patients, and the health-care team to resolve issues, participate in medication use evaluations, and contribute to safety initiatives. Shift: Monday–Friday, Days, 07:30–15:30.

Qualifications

• Registered pharmacist with valid license.
• Experience with dispensing and compounding.
• Ability to communicate with physicians, patients, and healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medication orders and assess prescriptions for therapeutic suitability.
• Ensure medications are accurately dispensed, labeled and recorded.
• Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team for prescription clarification and problem resolution.

In accordance with the established vision and values of Northern Health, the Dispensary Pharmacist provides distribution pharmacy services by performing duties such as interpreting medication orders/prescriptions, assessing prescriptions for therapeutic suitability, and ensuring that medications are efficiently and accurately dispensed and/or compounded and labelled and that dispensing records are complete. Communicates with physicians, patients, and/or other health care team members for prescription clarification and problem resolution. Participates in the collection of data for medication use evaluation projects, implementation of dispensary-based medication safety initiatives, quality control activities, contributes to internal publications and participates in clinical drug trials in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Additionally, the pharmacist will work collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to identify and resolve drug therapy problems and achieve patient care outcomes.
