Director Tax – Servus Credit Union, Jasper Alberta

We’re hiring a Director Tax to join our Accounting Team. The position is full‑time and remote, with a preference for candidates located in Alberta.

In this leadership role you will act as a business owner and member of the united leadership team. You will collaborate, challenge, and pivot your team(s) to capitalize on opportunities that support the collective best interest of the organization and achieve excellence. Your enterprise knowledge will influence strategy development and direct the work required to deliver on our purpose.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary contact for the CRA, responsible for all income and excise tax filings and communication.
  • Oversee the calculation and reporting of all credit union and subsidiary monthly tax accruals, quarterly tax provisions, income tax returns, GST returns, and deferred tax calculations.
  • Research advanced tax and/or accounting issues and transactions, communicate impacts to the business, and document details in position papers or memos.
  • Understand overall operations of the business and how transactions impact the company’s tax position.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Commerce, or equivalent.
  • Active Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Income Tax Act.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS, Excise Tax, and the Credit Union Act.
  • 2–5 years of progressively senior positions in corporate tax.
