We are currently hiring for the position of:

DIRECTOR SALES - TIFF : THE MARKET

The Director, Market Sales is a senior role responsible for designing, driving, and delivering revenue-generating strategies for TIFF: The Market. Reporting to the Head of Market, the Director leads the day-to-day commercial strategy and execution supporting the Head of Market in senior-level negotiations and business growth as it relates to earned revenue opportunities.

This strategic and operational role is focused on driving earned revenue, cultivating, and identifying new business opportunities to ensure the Market achieves its financial and reputational goals.

This role oversees Market, exhibition sales, new business development, and the cultivation of revenue streams that are critical to the Market’s long-term financial sustainability and global positioning. The Director balances strategic vision with operational execution, ensuring revenue models are scalable, and sales strategies are fully integrated with programming, marketing, operations, and communications.

Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Generation
  • Co-Develop and execute revenue strategies across partnerships, exhibition sales, pass structures, promotional sales, and event-based opportunities.
  • Co-design and implementation of pricing and packaging strategies, ensuring offers remain competitive, differentiated, and aligned with client needs.
  • Build, manage and drive a robust pipeline of sales (Minimum of $10M) to achieve and exceed annual and multi-year revenue targets.
  • Deliver revenue forecasts, integrate projections into TIFF’s broader financing plans, and adjust strategies to maximize performance.
  • Set revenue targets, market share goals, and client engagement strategies, ensuring that Relationship Managers have clear direction and measurable outcomes.
Partnership Development & Management
  • Support the Head of Market in senior-level negotiations by developing proposals, securing commitments, and managing follow-through.
  • Identify, pitch, and secure partnerships with distributors, sales agents, broadcasters, production companies, studios, national promotion bodies,
  • Steward partnerships to ensure benefit delivery, renewal, and long-term collaboration.
Business Innovation & Growth Strategy
  • Lead the relevant revenue streams of exhibitions, promotional, screening and event based sales associated with the Multi-Year Financial Plan, overseen by the Head of Market.
  • Co-develop a multi-year strategic roadmap for revenue growth, in line with Market’s long-term revenue and financial sustainability model.
  • Identify, develop and launch new revenue-generating streams, business opportunities and industry trends to expand the Market’s offerings and audience across film, series, and the innovation sectors.
  • Integrate sales and revenue planning with programming, marketing and operations strategy to ensure commercial opportunities, sales initiatives are embedded into Market events overall experience.
Reporting & Analytics
  • Manage and contribute to sales reporting, building dashboards and tracking KPIs across partnerships, revenue streams, and pipeline activity either directly or through Sales Enablement function.
  • Provide insights to the Head of Market and TIFF leadership on trends, risks, and opportunities in industry and business growth.
  • Produce regular performance reports for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of Regional Relationship Managers responsible for sales execution, client relationship building, and territory development.
  • Work in strategic alignment with the Market leadership, ensuring that sales activities are coordinated with broader industry engagement, partner development, and international outreach.
  • Act as a visible representative of the Market at key events, fostering relationships and ensuring sponsor and partner satisfaction.
Job Grade & Salary
  • Job Grade Salary Range/Annually or Rate of pay : $90k - $127k

  • Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
  • Weekly in-office requirements:
    • Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
    • Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
  • Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's/ Master’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years in revenue strategy, partnerships, sponsorship, or sales leadership within cultural, media, or Industry organizations
  • Demonstrated success in securing and stewarding significant industry partnerships.
  • Experience developing revenue growth strategies with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience working with global brands and negotiating high-value deals.
  • Experience building and scaling revenue models from the ground up, including team structures, pricing strategies, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with complex pricing models and forecasting tools.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not a requirement
