FirstService Energy is the energy management and advisory subsidiary of FirstService Residential. As the trusted energy advisor, FirstService Energy aims to improve energy efficiency, lower energy costs, and reduce carbon emissions for properties managed by FirstService Residential. Through energy data analysis and on-site assessments, FirstService Energy identifies and evaluates opportunities for energy efficiency improvements. It manages one of the largest energy procurement programs for multifamily buildings, providing significant annual energy savings. Job Overview

This role will build upon existing energy programs across various jurisdictions. The individual will work directly and indirectly with property managers, board members, and building staff across Canada and some northern US States to advise on reducing energy consumption, utility costs, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a regional expert on energy and climate-related questions.
  • Analyze utility price structures and consumption data for trends and anomalies.
  • Perform building walk-throughs, recommend efficiency upgrades, and operational improvements.
  • Prepare energy reports with estimated savings, strategies, and ROI.
  • Attend board meetings to explain and promote energy offerings.
  • Create target lists of buildings based on energy spend or usage and propose savings services.
  • Develop high ROI and prescriptive measure programs for the region.
  • Represent FirstService Energy at industry events.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, municipalities, and NGOs to support project implementation.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Energy-related certifications such as CEM, EBCP, CBCP, LEED O&M.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in building science, sustainability, or energy auditing/consulting.
  • Familiarity with building mechanical systems.
  • Ability to travel within the region and work in person at the Mississauga office 3 days a week, with remote work options.
  • Availability for evening meetings and events.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and walk through buildings.

  • Experience in selling energy management services.
