Purpose

We are looking for a Director, Project Management to join our Calgary, Alberta or Edmonton, Alberta office. The ideal candidate will have extensive project management / project leadership experience in the oil & gas sector, on behalf of an engineering firm. The ideal candidate will have experience managing large-scale petrochemical EPCM projects ($1Bn+) in cold weather / arctic conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Planning & prioritizing project tasks to support the project schedule.
  • Identifying and managing project and contractual risks and opportunities.
  • Manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholders including global integrated delivery (GID) team.
  • Reporting of cost, schedule, progress, and performance to senior management.
  • Review and analyze alternatives and options to deliver value through the project scope.
  • Leading, coaching, and directing multi-disciplined engineering & support teams in all phases of project execution.
  • Developing relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Maintaining comprehensive project documents and reports.
  • Championing safety, well-being, sustainability, and management of change processes.
  • Manage capital expenditures and project finances to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This includes forecasting, tracking spending, and managing change orders.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and other stakeholders, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), progress, and earned value.
  • Limited travel to site or other locations as required.
Technical and Industry Experience
  • Proven track record of project management experience on high-value petrochemical EPCM projects. Preference to candidates with significant project experience in cold weather / arctic conditions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project execution, project management, and project control methodologies.
  • Full life cycle project management experience (Pre- FEED to Commissioning)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the project life cycle for high-value petrochemical projects.
Extensive EPCM work experience.

Strong interpersonal skills are supported by effective decision making and influential negotiation skills.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training, Skills
  • A recognized and relevant engineering degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record in leading and delivering large-scale projects ($1Bn+).
  • Previous experience of arctic / cold weather petrochemical projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and team coordination skills to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and stakeholder engagement.
