We are the Platforms, Technology, and Services (PT&S) team in the Chief Technology Office (CTO) business unit. Our span is wide and critical to TELUS’ success. From voice, messaging, 911 and mobility core services for consumers and businesses, wireless and wireline, we do it all, i.e. architecture, technology development, deployment and service assurance.

As the Director of the PT&S Technology Business Office, you will collaborate very closely across the PT&S team and key stakeholders across the CTO.
Your role encompasses ownership of the Anomalytics team, Customer Experience team, Planning team, Program support team. You'll build high-performing teams and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration while driving digital transformation.

As a visionary leader, you'll balance strategic planning, championing both technical excellence and team development. You'll create an environment that promotes innovation and consistent results, while working alongside supportive partners and stakeholders who share your curiosity, commitment based leadership and passion for innovation.

What you’ll do


Lead and Inspire

  • Manage high-performing team members and managers, fostering an environment of curiosity, innovation and collaboration.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and innovation, encouraging team members to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-changing technology and industry landscape.

Strategic Planning & Investment Management

  • Lead the annual strategy & business planning exercise and drive decision making in alignment with all stakeholders, ensuring TELUS is future-ready both strategically and technologically.
  • Secure and manage funding for the Data & AI teams and programs in collaboration with Finance, Capital Management and business units ensuring maximum impact, value and ROI.
  • Manage business KPIs on a monthly basis ensuring capex, opex and value delivery are on track to achieve targets and take proactive measures as necessary.
  • Oversee project portfolios, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work by setting clear priorities and objectives across teams
  • Provide senior-level guidance and collaborate with leaders across the CTO to establish best practices, architectural standards, and technical roadmaps across multiple teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in development processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and scalability across the organization
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing emerging technologies and methodologies that enhance our digital capabilities

Communication, Storytelling & Reporting

  • Responsible for development and management of scorecards and reporting to corporate teams and senior leaderships ensuring success against strategic objectives.
  • Drive compelling narratives that effectively communicate the successes, learnings and future impact of data and AI solutions across the organization through diverse channels and media.
  • Deliver impactful presentations for ELT audiences, including the CEO and the Board, translating complex technical concepts into clear and actionable insights and story.

Stakeholder Management

  • Position the Strategy & Business operations team as a front door for business units by seamlessly facilitating collaboration on high impact initiatives
  • Cultivate and manage relationships across business units and other functions for continuous alignment on strategic, operational and financial aspects, which is critical for success.

Drive operational excellence

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for system reliability, platform performance, and productivity
  • Oversee incident management processes and ensure adherence to SLAs across all digital platforms
  • Manage budget planning, forecasting, and actual expenditures for the PT&S team
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with third-party vendors and internal partners
  • Represent the PT&S team in executive-level meetings and decision-making processes
Qualifications


What you bring

  • 10+ years of experience in senior technical leadership roles, with at least 5 years of experience managing large engineering organizations
  • Proven track record of leading successful digital transformation initiatives and delivering enterprise-scale software products
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical considerations with business objectives
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with C-level stakeholders
  • Proven ability to drive cultural change and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

Location: Any major Canadian city

Salary Range: $128,000-$192,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 30%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefitssuch as:
