Our Role:

Reporting to the Vice President of Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions, the Director of Operations oversees approximately 130 employees at BWXT PMI in Oakville. The role involves maximizing profits through strategic investment in people, materials, and equipment while ensuring safety, customer satisfaction, and quality standards.

Accountabilities:
  1. Promote a safety culture prioritizing safety above all.
  2. Ensure compliance with customer and BWXT quality standards.
  3. Achieve or surpass annual revenue targets.
  4. Drive continuous improvement using manufacturing tools like lean manufacturing.
  5. Develop strong relationships with customers and vendors.
  6. Meet customer schedule and delivery commitments.
  7. Plan and oversee complex manufacturing efforts, including process, plant, and capacity planning.
  8. Support and direct department managers in daily operations.
  9. Foster a collaborative culture through leadership and coaching.
  10. Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching.
  11. Improve reporting metrics and KPIs to optimize operations.
  12. Manage project execution to ensure cost-effective outcomes.
  13. Review and improve production methods and costs.
  14. Develop and maintain budget plans, participate in quarterly reviews.
  15. Ensure efficient onboarding and training processes.
  16. Implement new manufacturing techniques and systems for continuous improvement.
  17. Ensure effective labor planning and support employee relations.
  18. Communicate and embody the company’s vision and values.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field, with a broad business background or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in precision manufacturing or OEM environments, CNC background preferred.
  • Experience with nuclear power products or high-quality assurance industries is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of quality and safety programs.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cultural change and organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong leadership with emphasis on accountability and clear direction.

Compensation:

The salary range in Ontario at start of employment is expected to be $145,000 to $187,000 annually, based on market factors and individual qualifications. The total compensation may include bonuses, medical, retirement, and other benefits, details of which will be provided upon offer.
