Job summary

A leading accounting firm seeks a Director of Tax for a 14-month contract in Ajax, Ontario. You will prepare and review tax provisions, manage corporate tax returns, and identify savings opportunities. Applicants should have a CPA, over 10 years of experience, and strong communication skills. The position requires residency in the Greater Toronto Area and permission to work in Canada.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience within a tax department of a multinational organization.
  • Financial reporting and compliance expertise with an understanding of tax accounting guidelines.
  • Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation, corporate tax compliance, and planning.

About The Opportunity
  • Prepared and reviewed income tax provisions
  • Managed and prepared completion of annual corporate tax returns
  • Assisted with completion of tax provisions for foreign entities
  • Identified tax saving opportunities and provided analysis
  • Monitored and analyzed proposed or recently enacted legislation, regulations, and court cases to determine and quantify the relevant cash flow and effective tax rate consequences
  • Developed, implemented, and explained tax planning strategies
  • Ensured that all country-specific government reporting and regulatory requirements were met
  • Ensured that tax balance sheet accruals were properly stated and timely reconciled
  • Led tax audits to minimize assessments within the constraint of the factual situation and tax law, regulations, and rulings
About You
  • University degree with a CPA designation
  • 10+ years of progressive experience within a tax department of a multinational organization
  • Strong tax planning and project management skills
  • Financial reporting and compliance expertise and thorough understanding of tax accounting guidelines
  • Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation, corporate tax compliance, and planning

Salary

$150,000 / Year
