Director of Finance
Location: Toronto, Ontario, On Site 5 Days

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Finance to join our leadership team. This role provides financial leadership across the organization, driving performance, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and growth.

As a designated accounting professional, you bring strong expertise in accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as proven experience in performance measurement and analysis. Your leadership will help guide strategies, support business objectives, and strengthen overall organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Consolidation and External Financial Reporting

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual disclosure documents, including consolidated financial statements, MD&A, and AIF, ensuring compliance with IFRS and CSA

  • Manage quarterly and annual public company filings.

  • Oversee the creation of board and audit committee presentation materials.

  • Monitor new accounting standards, recommend policy changes, and ensure disclosures remain compliant.

  • Oversee day-to-day functions of operational accounting and monthly financial reporting.

  • Manage month-end close, audit requirements, and the full accounting cycle.

  • Supervise corporate accounting processes, including journal entries across operations, merchandising, advertising, and other business functions.

  • Manage the teams of functions of Accounts Payable, Payroll, and cash management

  • Review and approve commodity tax filings and other required government reporting.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance and accounting professionals.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting systems.

  • Collaborate with external auditors for interim and year-end reviews.

  • Provide input on corporate accounting policies and ensure compliance.

  • Support special projects, strategic initiatives, and ad hoc requests as needed.

Qualifications
  • CPA designation required.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including leadership roles.

  • Experience with public company external financial reporting.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large and diverse teams.

  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and deliver business results.
