Commissionaires South Saskatchewan is hiring a Director of Business Development who can actively pursue strategic opportunities by cultivating partnerships or identifying new markets to contribute to the growth of the company. The Director of Business Development reports directly to the CEO, is an ambassador of the Corps, and is expected to provide positive service and professional representation of our brand and product to all clients, customers, and Commissionaires.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be responsible for the performance of the Business Development team and be an active member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Prepare and manage a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy ensuring adherence to the law and established rules and guidelines based on research of our competitors, our local markets, and core competencies to outline how we expect to grow in key market segments over the next 10 years.
  • Prepare and manage a comprehensive execution plan that will define key metrics and operating measures for the Business Development department.
  • Oversee and lead all requests for proposals (RFPs) submissions for those strategic clients we pursue. This will involve using all existing RFP collateral currently developed for this purpose and preparing all documentation required for RFP submissions.
  • Build unsolicited relationships with potential clients and be able to clearly articulate our business strategy and core competencies in a manner that helps us grow and develop opportunities.
  • Work with other divisional staff across the Federation and with National Division partners to identify cross-selling opportunities within our existing book of business.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to diversify our offerings beyond static guarding. This may include new initiatives and partnerships around consulting and other business development initiatives.
  • Establish a meaningful footprint to build our clients within regional municipalities across southern Saskatchewan.
  • Managing the financial budget of the department.
  • Developing/implementing an effective sales pipeline and lead-tracking process.
  • Managing the marketing portfolio and partner with the Senior Management Team to establish a marketing strategy to elevate our sales and recruitment.
  • Partnering with HR/Training to market active recruiting strategies.
  • Partner with Innovation leadership to generate tangible business from specialized expertise.

Job specifications:

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or related field: master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Experience supervising personnel and working in a team environment.
  • Experience with financial acumen.
  • Experience in strategic planning is as an asset.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills as well as advanced report writing skills.

  • Must be cleared to a Level II Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) Security clearance.
