Job summary

OEG Sports & Entertainment is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead the full cycle accounting for Edmonton Oilers, Oil Kings, Bakersfield Condors and affiliates. You will ensure timely monthly financial statements and accurate postings under IFRS.

You will manage close processes, supervise staff, and collaborate on IFRS reporting, budgeting, and audits in a dynamic sports entertainment environment.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• Minimum eight years of progressive accounting experience, including management.
• IFRS knowledge is an asset.
• Strong financial reporting, analytical skills and business acumen.
• Proficiency with Dynamics GP and Excel is expected.
• Ability to communicate with staff and third-party managers.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly close procedures for OEG group.
• Prepare and distribute monthly statutory financial statements for entities.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting including journal entries and GL reconciliations.
• Perform balance sheet reviews and variance commentary on key accounts.
• Improve accounting processes and internal controls for efficiency.
• Review revenue recognition postings for ticketing, retail, media and gaming.
• Review expense postings and journals; monitor depreciation/capital entries.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members.
• Collaborate on consolidated IFRS reporting and annual budgets.
• Assist with annual financial statement audits and related work papers.
