Job Description

As Director – Head of Canada and Caribbean Data Privacy, you will lead a 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) Privacy team covering Canadian and Caribbean businesses and functions to ensure adequate oversight and challenge of privacy risk management at RBC.

What will you do?
  • Ensure a consistent approach to privacy risk management by strengthening overall oversight and challenge for Canadian and Caribbean businesses and functions.

  • Identify, raise and record privacy issues with the Global Privacy Office and resolve them jointly with affected regional peers.

  • Build strong relationships with regional peers to achieve consistent global controls, policies, procedures and tools.

  • Collaborate with Canadian and Caribbean 1LOD privacy teams and maintain appropriate oversight of their activities.

  • Review and challenge privacy risk in business operations and maintain a general understanding of RBC’s data handling practices.

  • Review escalated privacy risk assessments, supplier risk management assessments, breaches and complaints.

  • Escalate significant privacy risks and concerns to senior compliance stakeholders.

  • Develop responses and resolutions to identified privacy issues or breaches with 1LOD privacy teams and businesses.

  • Lead interactions with relevant privacy regulators and lead regulatory change management for Canadian and Caribbean privacy changes.

  • Oversee completion of impact assessments with 1LOD and implementation of regulatory requirements.

  • Experienced privacy professional with strong knowledge of privacy, compliance and regulatory risk management practices.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.

  • Proven effective communication skills.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement at a senior level.

  • University degree.

Nice-to-have
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.

  • Privacy accreditation (IAPP).
