Job description

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As the Director of Global Strategic PMO Planning on the Global Strategy team, you are the operational engine behind Arc’teryx’s enterprise-level strategic and key cross functional projects Partnering closely with the VP of Global Strategy, you drive integrated planning, prioritization, governance and decision making to keep the organization focused on the initiatives with the greatest business impact.

You partner with leaders across the business, establish the governance and decision forums needed to advance complex enterprise initiatives and ensure strategic priorities are embedded within existing planning and governance processes across AC, Product Operations, Technology and Finance. You align priorities, secure funding and help solve competing demands on organizational capacity.

Your remit spans overall project management for this portfolio of emerging special projects, including managing relationships with external consultants and partners where specialized capacity or expertise is needed.

As a trusted integrator, you bring structure and rigor to enterprise execution, recommend paths forward when functions conflict, and elevate unresolved issues with clear trade‑offs analysis. Your effectiveness is measured by how reliably strategic priorities stay on track and strength of cross functional alignment and execution.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid work (or remote Canada with travels to North Vancouver, BC). Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

The Global Strategy team is a trusted partner to the executive leadership team in the development, prioritization, and oversight of our company strategies working cross-functionally across the business to ensure attainment of our long‑term strategic objectives and goals. We provide strategic insights and frameworks to enable strategy development, cross‑functional alignment and executive decision making. We are experts at translating complex, unstructured problems into clear executive level narrative and recommendations. Our team leads the company’s long‑range strategic planning process, quarterly business reviews, and the development of an integrated performance management framework to connect our strategy to our annual operating budget and tactical operating plan.

If you were the Director, Global Strategy – Strategic PMO role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
  • Partnering with business leaders and their teams across functions and regions around each strategic initiative to gain alignment before execution
  • Facilitating prioritization and presenting key decisions in the appropriate governance forum ensuring timely resolution of trade‑offs
  • Translating strategic priorities and emerging cross‑functional demand into a single integrated roadmap that other functions can plan and execute against
  • Ensuring the organization’s limited delivery capacity is focused on the initiatives with the greatest strategic and business impact, reducing fragmentation across competing requests
  • Partnering with key operational functions like AC, Product and GTM Operations, Technology, and Finance on prioritization, alignment and funding of strategic initiatives, embedding into their existing process and governance
  • Identifying where strategic or special project require external capacity or expertise, and sourcing, briefing, and managing consultant and external partners against clearly defined deliverables
  • Providing strategic recommendations to navigate competing priorities across functions, while escalating unresolved issues with clearly articulated trade‑offs
  • Monitoring initiative health against milestones and proactively escalating risk to enable timely leadership decisions before priorities go off track
  • Building standing forums, reporting rhythm, and documentation that keep functional leaders, the VP Strategy, and Executive Leadership aligned on initiative status
  • Partnering with Enterprise Planning to align initiative‑level work with the broader LTSP/AOP planning calendar, ensuring alignment, visibility and coordinated execution
  • Orchestrating cross‑functional working teams to deliver strategic initiatives, using influence, alignment and credibility to drive outcomes in a matrixed environment
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:
  • Building a repeatable playbook for standing up new enterprise initiatives to enable governance in all future priorities launch
  • Shaping how Global Strategy function partners with Product / GTM Operations on development of our multi‑year roadmap, and driving accountability and execution as the global‑regional formation matures
Are you our next Director, Global Strategy – Strategic PMO?
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in business, strategy or related field
  • You have 10+ years of experience in program management, strategy operations, or management consulting, ideally with exposure to a matrixed, multi‑region organization
  • You have a track record of standing up governance for complex, cross‑functional initiatives from scratch - you build the structure, not just follow one
  • You have experience scoping, briefing, and managing external consultants or agency partners as part of a project team, holding them to the same rigor as internal workstreams
  • You are comfortable operating without formal authority: your influence comes from clarity, credibility, and being the person who makes a hard trade‑off legible enough to decide
  • You can hold multiple initiatives at different stages simultaneously, and know when a risk needs to be escalated versus worked around
  • You communicate concisely and confidently with senior stakeholders, distilling complex, multi‑function status into a clear point of view
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity in a growing function - you will help define parts of this role as it evolves, not just execute a fixed mandate
  • A genuine interest in the outdoor industry and the Arc'teryx ethos is an asset, though not a prerequisite for success in this role
Compensation:

The salary range for this role is CAD$149,000 - CAD$195,000
