Our Global Privacy Office is a solution‑first function. We partner across Mark Anthony Group (MAG) to embed privacy‑by‑design into everything we do to achieve compliance by default. As Director, Global Privacy Program you will design and drive a privacy program supporting all MAG functions, including marketing, digital innovation, information technology and AI. Your small and mighty team will provide proactive, expert privacy guidance with a sense of urgency, staying ahead of a fast‑changing regulatory landscape.

The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of the application of global privacy laws, strong technical curiosity, and the ability to partner effectively across marketing, technology, compliance and legal functions.

You will report to the Senior Director, Risk Management, based in Vancouver, BC. We will consider candidates who can work at least four days per week on‑site at our offices in Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal.

What you will do:

  • Design, implement, and enhance MAG’s global privacy program, using a risk‑based approach.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to provide timely, pragmatic privacy advice.
  • Advise on privacy considerations for product launches and initiatives involving personal data, providing actionable recommendations to achieve positive consumer experiences and effective privacy risk management.
  • Develop targeted training and awareness programs to create a culture of privacy awareness and privacy‑by‑design principles across MAG.
  • Evolve third‑party data and privacy risk management processes, including reviews of vendor contracts and data processing agreements.
  • Review and update privacy notices and policies annually to reflect changes in the business and external regulations.
  • Implement privacy technology solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Monitor emerging and changing global privacy regulations and deliver actionable advice.
  • Mentor and develop privacy team members.

What you have:

  • 7-10 years’ experience in data protection and privacy compliance, plus 5-10 years of business experience and at least 5 years leading a privacy function.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, computer science, information systems, business, cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Strong background in consumer privacy, data protection, and information governance, ideally with experience in digital product launches.
  • Strong technology aptitude and understanding of cybersecurity and data protection principles.
  • In‑depth knowledge of privacy laws (e.g. CCPA, GDPR, PIPEDA) and emerging data regulations (e.g. Data Act, NIS2, CRA).
  • Ability to collaborate across compliance, legal, marketing, digital and technology design teams, to create privacy‑forward, consumer‑friendly experiences.
  • Familiarity with children’s privacy, age‑appropriate marketing and online safety laws.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
  • Experience with incident response and data breach preparedness.
  • Interest in AI privacy and ethics, including responsible data use in emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills (English), able to translate complex and detailed information into actionable insights.
  • Privacy certification (CIPP, CIPT or CIPM).
