At the Department of Finance and Treasury Board, we strive to provide financial leadership, analysis and policies that strengthen Nova Scotia. As stewards of the province’s financial affairs, we deliver a wide range of corporate fiscal management services – including the preparation of the provincial budget – as well as ensure government plans are coordinated and fiscally responsible. The Director Financial Advisory Services is responsible for providing strategic direction and technical leadership in the development of fiscal management strategy to assist the province in meeting its shared services objectives.
As the Director Financial Advisory Services, you will provide guidance and direction to a team supporting the client Departments of Justice and Public Service Votes.
This position reports to the Executive Director of Financial Advisory Services.

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a university degree in business, commerce, or public administration and a professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA). Several years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a large organization, is also required.
As the successful candidate, you will possess a broad base of experience in budget development, forecasting, and financial accounting reporting. Demonstrated ability in leading and engaging a team is a must. This position requires an aptitude to deal with complex issues, strong analytical skills, tact and diplomacy, capacity for decisive action, and the ability to influence.
You are a seasoned leader and excellent communicator with several years of experience engaging a variety of stakeholders.
While not required, it is considered an asset if you have knowledge and experience in government financial policies and procedures.
Leadership competencies required at this level of work are : Decisiveness, Strategic Orientation, Developing Others, Team Leadership, Self-Awareness and Personal Impact, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools : written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade : EC 13
Salary Range : $4,136.98- $5,171.21 Bi-Weekly
