The Opportunity

Canada’s largest Supply Chain (SC) is looking for a Director of Finance to lead one of the most dynamic and the fastest growing business units across the organization, our Transportation Operations. This position acts as the CFO supporting our freight operations. The successful candidate will work closely with and be a part of the leadership team that manages store bound deliveries, Distribution Centre (DC) inbound deliveries, Freight as a Service (FaaS) business, cross border and offshore operations. In addition, the individual will support growth initiatives by monitoring and building business cases and assessing capital and leasing requirements. The individual will drive value added analytics, forecasting, drive the reporting strategy and lead the annual budgeting process.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and manage the relationship with business owners to deliver on financial plans and objectives, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Manage and support the periodic forecast process including meeting key stakeholders for inputs, challenging risks and opportunities
  • Lead and support period and business reviews including directing the conversation through supporting material and empowering business partners with insights and analytics of key drivers
  • Lead weekly business update meetings including maintaining and building scorecards to drive the conversation and monitoring and analyzing trends
  • Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Maintain and develop a comprehensive reporting strategy for the Transportation business including providing insight into key metrics and financial drivers
  • Prepare divisional presentations pertaining to period results, forecasts and budgets
  • Develop, enhance and implement financial models that consider multiple drivers
  • Lead interpretation and analysis of key drivers affecting the SC Operations
  • Liaise with other functional areas within the organization to co‑ordinate cross‑functional analyses and data accumulation
  • Ad hoc projects and analyses
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor degree or greater (e.g. Business, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, etc.);
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation Preferred or working toward completion
  • +6 years related planning and forecasting work experience;
  • Exceptional analytical skills and proven capability to drive insights from data and analytics;
  • Ability to build and leverage relationships, self‑organize multiple tasks well and to complete them on time with a clear focus on quantitative results;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Willingness to work well in a fast‑paced team environment;
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, tools) to complete objectives effectively and efficiently;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments and build strong working relationships.
