What you will do
- Lead and drive a customer‑focused culture throughout your team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Responsible for leading a high‑performing talent acquisition team that is world‑class and grounded in competitive intelligence to partner with Scotiabank’s leadership at all levels. Provide vision and strategic direction to Global Talent Acquisition strategies, the future of Executive Talent Acquisition, and coaching of direct reports.
- Collaborate with key business and HR leaders to develop and implement forward‑thinking Executive Talent Acquisition that positions Scotiabank as an employer of choice.
- Develop and implement key talent insights to drive accountability and forward‑thinking conversations, ensuring optimal people competencies are aligned to overall business priorities and providing greater transparency and visibility to stakeholders.
- Build and manage the implementation of priority talent segment strategies, ensuring diversity goals are included in program designs where appropriate.
- Manage internal/external ROI and identify cost‑saving/revenue‑generating opportunities to expand Talent Acquisition partnerships.
- Build and develop business line initiatives to reinforce the Bank’s commitment to inclusion for all designated groups (Indigenous, Black, Gender, Persons with Disabilities, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Veterans) by ensuring proper candidate slate representation.
- Coach team members toward the effective and efficient utilization of sourcing, hiring & selection tools and resources to support business requirements and strategies.
- Lead and develop progressive and transformative programs to increase Executive Talent Acquisition capability in key markets and businesses.
- Contribute to Talent Strategy and Global HR vision through various strategic projects.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
- Create an environment in which your team pursues effective and efficient operations of its respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequate adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Build a high‑performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates your team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vision, values, and business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Skills
- Minimum 10 years of progressive and innovative leadership experience within Talent Acquisition or Executive Search, coupled with a proven track record of leading transformative initiatives.
- Deep industry knowledge in banking and financial services, an asset.
- Proven experience developing, executing and monitoring Talent Acquisition, Executive Search and/or Sourcing functions with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency.
- Able to attract, recognize, coach and develop recruitment and sourcing expertise.
- Good understanding of managing teams that are accountable for high volume and/or professional and executive roles.
- Expert knowledge of the banking talent acquisition landscape, talent sourcing and candidate relationship management tools and practices.
- Experience with a variety of HR systems, including implementing an applicant tracking system and/or other technologies and working with recruitment partners/vendors.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others across business units, functional departments, geographies and disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
